My inspiration for this idea was to show a still life that isn’t perfect and that doesn’t have order. When I hear still life I thought “ok something that captures real life” and what I mean is not everyone has order in their life sometimes its just a mess. Thus why I have stuff spilling out of a bag. The lighting in the original is a little gloomy and I achieved this light naturally on a cloudy day. I didn’t use any photoshop to alter the image in any way. The location is on the porch of my girlfriends house. Before I started to take the pictures I had an idea to just kinda pull something out of my sewing bag and how it fell is how it fell. But then when I did that it didn’t spread nearly as much as I wanted. So I pulled and placed that box where it was and my shirt that says “Grace Kids”. So in a way it was both intentional and accidental. My strongest point is the lighting because I feel like it sets the mood to this entire picture. My weakest point is probably the lack of variety in the objects I chose for the assignment. I learned that it’s important to combined lighting and the background to make a strong picture. The one thing I would’ve done different was get more of a variety of items.

Decisive Moment
My inspiration on this picture was to capture her smile. I was using my cell phone camera a google pixel XL 2. The lighting was natural and the mood was joy and laughter. The time of day was little after noon and the was no edits used on this photo. The location of this picture was in the parking lot at Suny Orange. This picture was kind of by accident I started to take a picture of her outfit then I started to be silly and she started to laugh and I was able to capture her laughing. The strongest point in this is how she just kinda pops out at you and how the background is blurred a little bit. The weakest point is probably how her hand is blurred. I wouldn’t really want to change anything about this picture because although this picture isn’t perfect it captured a perfect moment.
My Vision
My vision of photography is to capture the best possible picture in the moment with little to no editing. Its amazing what you can do with just a camera lens and if you take the time when you take the picture you wont need to edit unless you wanted to. In the first image me and my girlfriend went to Barnes and Noble so when she was walking down the aisle I asked her to turn around and when she did I was able to capture that image. In the second image her and I went to this coffee place right after her hair cut. The lighting was perfect and she just looked so happy so I needed to take a picture and it turned out amazing. I didn’t need to edit or anything, this is just a raw image. Both these pictures where taken around the same time of day however on different days maybe a week or so apart. The mood in both of these is happiness and joy. I took these pictures on purpose to capture the joy we have and had in the moment. The strongest point in the first image is I feel is how Haley interacts with her surroundings and background. The weakest part about the first image is probably the lighting. However the second image the strongest point is I feel is the lighting. The weakest part of the second image is probably the wall in the background is a little too dark but the same time I feel like it adds to the image. Looking back at this assignment I learned how to really capture a moment and as for anything I would change, honestly I wouldn’t change anything.
Fading Memories (S.P.)
My inspiration for this idea was that one day we’re not going to be on this planet and all that people will have to remember us is by a plaque on the wall thus the title “Fading Memory”. It was about 9am and most of the light was coming from a skylight so I didn’t need any more light then what I had lighting. I didn’t do any editing because I didn’t feel the need to. I was able to capture what I wanted and have it look the way I wanted without editing. The mood of these photos are kinda both happy and sad. In the first one I look kinda lost and confused. In the second one when I had company I look happy. So I feel these two pictures that are similar but different. The location of the image was in Orange Hall by the front door. When I was searching for a good image to use as my artist statement I kinda just stumbled upon the idea of doing this. The strongest point in this image is probably I think the reflection and how you’re just able to see us. The weakest point of this picture I think is definitely the trash cans at the bottom of the picture. Looking back on these pictures I learned to take advantage of my surroundings but there are somethings I wished i did differently. One is make the subjects (in these images Haley and I) a little sharper and another being to have removed the trash cans prior to the image.
